A new ecotourism and conservation initiative in the province of Tocache may be possible. The La Merced Ishanga Tourism Association (ATMI) seeks to promote sustainable, responsible, planned and orderly tourism in the ecosystems of the montane forests of the proposed Ishanga Waterfalls Ecotourism Concession (993.94 hectares), and thus contribute to the development sustainability of the local population.
The Ishanga waterfalls are the new tourist attraction that has been causing a sensation in the town of Tocache, easily accessible from the hamlet of La Merced Ishanga located 40 minutes from the city of Tocache. To get there, you must take the detour that leads to Uchiza, approximately 30 minutes from the southern city of San Martín.
In these forests, it is planned to develop activities for sustainable management of the area such as patrols, inventories of wild flora and fauna, and studies in areas with tourist potential. For this, the final map of the Ecotourism Concession has already been prepared according to the Forest Zoning of San Martín and the verification carried out in the field.
